The aim of the games in 1:1 pattern is to teach successful possession or regain the possession of the ball. At the beginning of the practice, the coach has to provide advanced situation for the offensive player to solve his task successfully. Later coaches have to put the emphasis on the acquisition of successful defensive technique in 1:1 pattern. A good defender is as important as a good offensive player in relation to the total teamwork.

Picture 1: Game in 1:1 pattern with limited time interval (30-45-60 sec.). The player with the ball has to cover the ball or tries to possess it with changes in rhythm and fakes. The defender tries to gain the possession of the ball as quickly as possible. If the defender gains the possession, the game is going on with alternate task change. After the end of the time interval a new pair starts the game. Size of the field: 12 *12 m. Variation: At the same time two pairs play the same game in 1:1 pattern. In this case the players have to pay attention to the other pair as well as to their own opponent. |

Picture 2: Game in 1:1 pattern to score. The player has to dribble the ball between the 3 goals (cones) to get 1 point. Player can go through between the goals in any direction. After losing possession players start the game with alternate task change. At the same time 3 pairs play for 30-45-60 sec.

Picture 3: The coach starts the game by serving the ball. Both of the players try to possess the ball with by-pass of the two cones. Both of the players start the action by the signal of the coach, moving inside slowly then with a quick rhythm change and full intensity. After gaining possession:
the ball has to be shielded out of play to the player’s own side
the ball has to be shielded out of play to the opponent’s side
the ball has to be shielded out of play to any side of the court
After possessing it for a few seconds the ball has to be shielded out of play to any side of the court

Picture 4-5: Players play according to the previous game. The only difference is that they get the ball from side position, and they have to shield the ball out of play on the basis of the listed 4 variations. |

Picture 6: Both of the players start to move at the sign of the coach in slow run. The coach passes the ball between and behind to their line position at the same time. After this pass, the players have to take a quick spin around to possess the ball, then one of them has to shield the ball out of play according to the previous mentioned variation. |

Picture 7: Game in 1:1 pattern (among cones), 2-2 players are in diagonal position at the cones. When the player (inside the field) passes the ball to the teammate (outside the field), the player who was to be passed comes to play in 1:1 pattern against the same defender. He has to dribble the ball in diagonal direction and then to pass. If the defender regains the possession of the ball, he has to pass the ball as quickly as he can. The task of the defenders is to be in side position in relation to the offensive player, and try to lead him out with the ball or try to regain the possession of the ball, turning in front of the offensive player and, after regaining the ball, he passes it to his teammate. |

Picture 8: According to the previous game, players are in front of each other out of the court. Both the offensive and defensive players have the same task like in the previous game. 4-5 pairs can be placed out of the cones at the same time.

Picture 9: Wall game in 1:1 pattern: Among the cones players pass the ball with unlimited number of passes. The player who possesses the ball can pass to the moving player between the cones. After control of the ball he has to pass the ball back to his teammate with one pass. The players inside change their task after the signal of the coach (limited time period). |

Picture 10: Game with goals in 1:1 pattern: The ball is served by the coach, and the players try to gain the possession and shoot on goal. Variation:
- Possession of the ball for 6-10 sec. on the court (marked by cones), then after the signal of the coach the players have to shoot on goal at any goal.
- Pevious exercise, but the ball can be shot on goal only at the marked goal.
- After gaining possession of the ball, the players can shoot on goal at any goal.
- After gaining possession of the ball, the player can shoot on goal only at the marked goal.
- The players start the game from different cones.(The players are not allowed to be in 180 degree position. Any other position is allowed.

Picture 11: Game with goals in 1:1 pattern: The player with the ball with intensive dribbling arrives at the court marked by the cones, where he has to outplay the defender player, and then to shoot on goal. If the defender gains the possession of the ball, he is allowed to shoot on goal at the other sided goal. |

Picture 12: Wall game in 1:1 pattern: Among the cones players play in 1:1 pattern. They try to outplay or change rhythm or to pass to the teammate who is in spearhead forward position between the cones or the goals. The time interval is limited by the coach, after the signal of the coach one of the wall player comes to play, while the other players are in spearhead forward position. Variation:
- After shooting on goal, the player who scored gets back the ball, and starts the game again (more intensity!).

Picture 13: Game with one goal in 1:1 Pattern: The offensive player is dribbling the ball in a very intensive manner against the defensive player. After successful outplay he has to shoot on goal. Variation:
- The defensive players come in front of the offensive player or come from the cones direction (side).
- The offensive players can come in front position or from the cones form the side (red arrow down).

Picture 14: Game with one goal in 1:1 Pattern: The offensive player is in front of the goal, the defensive player comes from the left or the right side to intercept. The players have to practice from both sides. |

Picture 15: Game with one goal in 1:1 Pattern: The offensive player is in back position to the goal; he starts the game by stepping back to the ball. Receiving the ball from the coach he tries to spin the defensive player around (who starts the game with him at the same time) then shot on goal. Variation:
- Both offensive and defensive players can come in middle position or from side position (cones).
- Both offensive and defensive players can come form any other places.
