Games 2:1

The conformation of 2:1 games has to be started at U-7, step by step through progressive development towards more complex and more difficult executable game situations.



A.
Games 2:1 with blindside positioning and position selection


1. The offensive player with the ball has to hit the open offensive mate who is in front of him, and moves continuously to make a chance for the mate to pass the ball. The defender is allowed to move across only at the middle area. The defender has to move against the offensive player with the ball, and tries to gain the ball. Alternate function and exercise changes of the players after 4-5 repetitions.
Size of the area is 10*20m.


2. The offensive player with the ball has to hit the open offensive mate who is in front of him, and moves continuously to make a chance for the mate to pass. The defender is allowed to move across only at the middle area. Now the defender has to move against the offensive player who is without the ball, and tries to gain the ball. In this exercise the offensive player without the ball has to move much more intensively to move into the free area. He has to use more fake, body fake while the other offensive mate has to pass the ball in tempo (pace). Alternate function and exercise changes of the players after 4-5 repetitions.
Size of the area is 10*20m.

3. The defender tries to gain possession of the ball. The mate of the offensive player with the ball runs to an empty area to make a chance to receive the pass. The offensive player passes the ball to his mate and runs immediately to an empty area. After receiving back the ball the two offensive players have to exchange their position.

4. The defender stays in position and makes zone defense. The offensive player with the ball starts dribbling and faking the ball, and then passes to the other offensive mate who runs into the empty area. After receiving back the ball the two offensive players have to exchange their position.
Size of the area is 10*20m.


A/5. The defender starts the action. He passes the ball to the offensive player, and then attacks him. The other offensive player without the ball moves immediately to an empty area. After hitting of the open mate, he passes back the ball, and then the two offensive players have to exchange their position.
Size of the area is 10*20m.


A/6. The two offensive player pass the ball against the defender with continuous movement toward the empty area. As the players are getting better, the number of the passes used can be progressively decreased.

A/7. Game 2:1 - using 2 courts (yards)., Size of the area: 2*10*10m.
The players have to pass the ball in a 2:1 situation with limited number of passes on one court. If the defender gains possession of the ball, he tries to pass the ball to his defender mate who is on the other court. (It must be stopped by the 2 offensive players with a counter attack). Now on the other court in a 2:1 situation the game starts again, with an exchanged function of the players. After the ball is lost by the offensive players, only one of them has to run to the other court to play as a defender. The mates have to exchange their function after every loss of the ball.



B.
Game 2:1 goal, formation of combinations, performing different tasks


B/1. The offensive player starts the game dribbling the ball. The defender player attacks him, so the offensive player has to use a (wall) one-two pass to hit his mate. After the one-two pass the other offensive player has to shoot on goal.
Size of the area: 15-20*30-40m. Players have to practice on both sides.

B/2. The offensive player starts the game dribbling the ball. If the defender attacks him, the offensive players have to use a one-two pass to finish the game. Otherwise the offensive player with the ball has to finish the game initiating individual play with fake, and body fake.


B/3. The defender passes the baell to the offensive player, and then attacks him. The offensive player with his mate has to use a one-two pass, then finish the game with a shot on goal.

B/4. The offensive player starts dribbling the ball in front of the defender, while his mate starts to run across behind the defender. If the defender attacks him, he has to pass the ball to the running mate.


If the defender plays zone game, the offensive player with the ball has to fake, with intensive dribbling, and finishes the action with a shot on goal.

B/5. The situation is similar to game 4, but the offensive players have to start the game with a cross pass. With the received ball the offensive player starts the action, while his mate executes a position change, and then they finish the action with a shot on goal.


Real game situations in practice


Game 3:3-2*2:1 with goal-keepers or without goal-keepers, depending on the age groups of the players.
The size of the area is 2*15-20*15-20m The game starts with 2:1. The two offensive players have to shoot on goal against the defensive player. If they are successful, they get back the ball from the coach.

If they are not able scor or they shoot the ball too wide or high, the offensive players of the other team start the game on the other side of the court with the ball they receive from the coach. If the defender gains the possession of the ball or the goal-keeper saves, they have to pass the ball to the other offensive players who are on the other court. Now they continue the game to shoot on goal.
