Entering the Professional World
|
Signing a contract and getting into the first team does not mean that a player turns professionalautomatically. “We have to do everything to make our young ones down to earth” says Sir Alex Ferguson. This is an important starting position. Nowadays the elite world of soccer states that it is the age of 23 when a player reaches the level to become a professional. We should not accelerate or force the developmental process. M. Owen was already a world-class player, but still just a sub at Liverpool FC. Having the playing ability and the soccer technique does not mean automatic professional performance. There are many crafts and finesse of winning. Being successful during a series of high level games is already an art, which is the collective achievement of the players, their team, and the management. |
