The composition of team work 3. - Improving coordination and teamwork

IMPROVING COORDINATION AND TEAMWORK

Coordination exercises

  • cooperation of two, three, four or five players – in square, rectangular or diamond formation – where the direction of passes can be altered, up to choosing the target

Organization of exercises

  • area size: 10-20x10-20 metres marked with cones,

  • number of players: 4 to 8

  • the execution of tasks should go on for a defined length of time (2-2 minutes) and start from a defined position (corner) to the left and to the right side

  • the players opposite each other practise passing (short, long, low, high), receiving, dribbling the ball and combinations

1. Exercises in a square

  • receiving to the right, dribbling with the left foot
  • receiving to the left, dribbling with the right foot
  • passes with the inside and outside of the left and right foot
  • receiving the ball by trapping, with the inside and outside of the left and right foot
  • specifying the number of touches - one or two touches
  • getting round the cones by speeding up
  • stepping forward quickly to receive a pass, the speed of the ball has to be increased slowly

Exercises in a square - 2.

The passing player plays the ball to his team-mate moving towards him, who then

  • plays the ball instantly back (one-two pass)
  • immediately after passing the ball back, moves into free space – by getting round the cone – where his team-mate passes the ball
  • they practise the exercise continuously specifying the number of touches

    •  one, two or three touches

  • specifying the direction of passing (left or right)
  • synchronizing the passing speed with the running speed
  • increasing the speed when running towards the ball
  • passing to the player advancing the team-mate

    • the convenient moment can be affirmed in words

Exercises in a square - 3.

The player with the ball passes to the team-mate moving towards him, who then

  • plays the ball instantly back

  • immediately after passing the ball back, runs into free space by getting round the cone

  • the first player now passes to the third one, arriving from across, who gives the ball to the player getting round the cone

  • then they start over with a cross specifying the number of touches

  • one or two touches directions of execution: in width, in depth and across the field synchronizing the ball speed with the running speed

  • the running speed is adjusted to the nature of the pass (hard, soft, low, high )

    • the ball can be played
low (on the ground), chips and lofted kicks.

  • If the ball goes out, put them near the cones, from where the players can continue practising

Exercises in a square - 4.

Three players pass to one another

  • the player in the central position advances after passing

  • he plays the ball immediately to the other group of three on the other side, so practice may go on.

By narrowing down or enlarging the area, you can control the relative positioning of the players

  • moving towards and away from the player with the ball

  • making wide and deep passes alternately

  • by changing the tasks, the technical elements also change, just like the possibilities of passing

  • teaching and practising the technical elements necessary for short passes

  • teaching and practising the technical elements necessary for long passes, synchronizing running speed and passing speed

  • increasing ball speed

  • altering ball speed, connecting the tasks with shooting

Exercises in a rectangle - 1.

  • starts from the player in the middle

    • practising continuous wide passes to the team-mates in a wing position
    • the moment of the pass is determined by the player without the ball when he increases his running speed
    • specifying the number of touches (one or two touches)

Exercises in a rectangle - 2.

  • starts from the player in the left or right side position, who

    • passes to the player in the middle against a disturbing opponent

    • making wide and deep passes alternately

  • Requirement:

    • the player in the centre of the pitch gives the ball back immediately to the player he got it from

    • shifting positions in width and in depth

Exercises in a diamond - 1.

  • practising play situations in depth

    • increasing the running speed in case of a soft ball
    • decreasing the running speed in case of a hard ball
    • altering passing speed

  • taking positions by shifting

Exercises in a diamond - 2.

  • practising play situations in width

  • defining technical and tactical elements

  • taking positions by shifting

  • making wide and deep passes alternately
